•Alice's POV•
I was sitting on a front row seat, counting down every second on the clock. It was judgement day that day, for the three criminals who brought nothing but endless misery. They took away something from me and there just was no way to bring it back. I wanted to see the man who brought me misery suffer and finally that day has come.
To this day I could still remember that night...
“Hey...” Lance, my fiance, whispered at me. “Are you sure you're okay with being here? Why don't you listen to what I said, and go home Alice? I promise to give you the results when I get home.”
I shook my head in response. “I can't do that Lance. This is my one chance of having closure. I'm not going anywhere.” Since this morning he asked for me to stay at home. I knew he was just worried about me and being protective, but right now I didn't need any of that. I didn't want to be the weak victim who got raped and was too afraid to stare the culprit in the eye.
It was never Ethan who did it to me, but he let it happen. He let his friends rape and touch me as if he had no care for the life or body of a woman. He deserved what was coming for him.
I gently squeezed Lance's hand to give him some reassurance. Lance and I were happy and we were going to get married soon. Lance was a dream man, the kind you find in romance novels. Sweet, gentle hearted and loving. The kind of man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, because he gave me a sense of safety.
It was then the court announced their arrival. Ethan, the lead and the man I hated the most was about to walk through that door. I knew the moment he'd walk in, he'd look for me and so I just reached for the gun in my pocket.
Maybe the justice system was only going to give them a life sentence at best and that wasn't enough for me. I wanted to end them, so that nobody would have to go through the same shit I did. With every pull of the trigger, I wanted to watch the life sap out of his eyes and make them pay for what they did. They broke me and I wanted to break them.
But Lance was quick to notice and immediately placed his hand on mine. He moved closer so no one could see. “Please don't...They are not worth it. I am with you, Alice.”
I felt like crying. The tears threatened to spill from my eyes and I had to hold them back. Lance supported me the most and even now he was standing beside me. He was hurt the most by what happened and I knew he wanted to hurt these criminals as much as I do, but he was calm. He held all that anger inside.
Ethan walked in and I looked at him. Anger and all kinds of emotions boiled up inside me. I wanted to shoot him then there but Lance was there to hold me and keep me calm. Most people were looking at me and I looked down. I didn't like this kind of attention.
I then looked at Ethan again and he was giving me a creepy smile. Lance quickly pulled my face away, hugging me against his chest. “Don't look...”
I immediately snapped out of my trance and looked at him. Inhaling his sweet scent at first and then gently pushing him back. “It's okay...I'm stronger now. I have you here.”
Lance smiled hearing this.
And then one second later my gaze fell on Ethan's forest green eyes. They were so hot and evil. I hated him!
And just like that all the memories of that night came flooding back to me like a hurricane.
